So I finally had one those weekends I’ve been waiting for & finished the card I mentioned in my last post. I’ve had a 3 day weekend because of how my shifts fall & used my Saturday well 🙂 Sunday was fairly productive & Today, not so much. But that’s ok, I got this done & that’s all I wanted from this weekend 🙂
Below is a picture of the completed project before I added the back stitch. I decided to show a photo before & after, more so I can compare how it looks. I don’t enjoy the back stitch point in any design but absolutely love the effect it has once it’s done! I always think that without back stitch a project never looks complete…. don’t get me wrong, I would love it if it wasn’t essential.
Here is a picture of the finished piece 🙂 🙂 I’m really happy with it & love the colours 🙂
Finally, Below I have put on a picture of the chart book I used for this project, as I said in my previous post I need to find a way to keep a record of who designed what I’m stitching. The Design above is by Lesley Teare. I LOVE this chart book that came free with a cross stitch magazine & usually use them well! I have used it a few times & still have a few more I want to use. If you come across this on eBay, I would recommend buying it!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I look forward to seeing everyones WIP posts on Wednesday. I’m not 100% sure what I’ll be stitching next… I’ll probably go back to something I haven’t finished. I go on Holiday to Sunny Morocco on Thursday for 2 weeks so I don’t want to start anything new!
I want to take some stitching away with me, Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how to go about doing this? I wish we could stitch on the plane but Its not possible without scissors and a needle 😦
Anyway, I hope to post on Wednesday before I go away & at least put some ‘Throwback Thursday’ posts in place as I have plenty of work to share with you…. 🙂
I know we are all looking forward to or enjoying the spring weather right now but here is a final wintry deign that might be nice to put into your WIP rotation for next Christmas. I have finally finished re-charting this gem, JE180 A partridge in A Pear Tree. I have it shown on Postitches Designs 28 count ‘daybreak’ Jobelan. This is up on the order chart packs page now… Enjoy!
Above is my TBT post of the week! It’s a small project I completed for one of my best friends. I always feel bad that I can’t name the designer, but I can tell you it’s another design I used from one of my cross stitch magazines!
The more I post these TBT posts, the more I feel like I need to somehow keep a log of where I got the design from & who designed it! How do you do this? Any smart ideas?
When you stitch, who/what do you stitch for? I really enjoy stitching for other people… It gives me purpose & I love handing over a handmade gift… It usually means so much more! Saying that… I can’t decide if I’ll stitch this particular friend a gift again… I was in her room recently & couldn’t see this anywhere! I half thought it would have pride of place somewhere! Silly me!
My other reason I’m feeling this way is because recently I stitched her a card & she left it in the pub! 😦
So yeah, one more day at work until my weekend can begin! Saturday has been left free just to stitch 🙂
Above is my current WIP… As I said last week it’s for a colleague who’s baby is due on May 4th. She goes on maternity leave on 17th so I’ve got to make sure it’s done before she leaves! I’ve got a 3 day weekend ahead so fingers crossed I get it finished on time!!!
I hope you all had a productive Easter weekend & got lots of stitching done 🙂
My tbt for this week. Christmas cards I completed in 2014. Only finished 4 but enjoyed making my first xmas cards. if I remember rightly it took me from Sept-Dec to finish them. I *think* the designs were by Lucy Heaton. (Please correct me if I’m wrong)
I hope you are all having a good week & looking forward to a long Weekend off work due to Easter. For those of you working… I feel your pain. I’m working Saturday so my wonderful 4 day weekend will actually be 3 days broken up! Woe is me!
So last week I posted a picture for my wip post of my ‘bothy threads- Alice in wonderland.’ I have done very little work on this, so much so I won’t even bother showing you my non-existent ‘progress’ lol. So as usual the ‘butterfly effect’ has hit again.
What I mean by this, is as I previously mentioned I’m good at stitching on a regular basis but I move between projects like a butterfly moving between bright flowers. Each cross stitch design I start is a bright flower that’s caught my attention!!
So yes as I was saying.. As predicted when I start a big project I jump around quite a bit between different things. So while I was feeling a bit deflated by my Alice & wonderland I suddenly realised that my managers baby boy is due on 4th May & I MUST stitch them something for this wonderful occasion… I’m sure you know what it’s like!
I’m starting to think I’m much better at completing smaller projects! Why is that? I can only assume it’s because I can see my progress more which is more motivating!
Below is the project I’ve just started working on…
The design is from a booklet I got with a cross stitch crazy magazine. The design is by Lesley Teare. I’ve also decided that rather than stitching on my usual white/cream Aida that I would use some light blue/shiny glitter Aida. I think it’s going well!
What are you working on at the moment? Has anyone done anything for Easter this year?
