Happy Wednesday! This weekend just gone I managed to finish my only working cross stitch project.
Take a look:
The design is from a kit I purchased in Aldi in January as part of their baby event. The intention has always been to frame the finished project & put it in the babies room when it’s done. I LOVE how the backstitch always makes the design pop! ❤️
Admittedly it’s not quite finished yet…The chart does have some french knots which I’ve avoided doing as I’ve got a short temper & don’t think I’ll be able to do them at the moment. (It’s been a while since I’ve completed any) I’m debating picking up some small beads instead to give it some sparkle 😁
If I do pick them up again I’ll need to watch a ‘How to’ video on YouTube first to refresh my memory!
Is it just me that struggles with French knots?!
For now, I’ve moved on to the second chart that was included in the kit. Two reasons for this, it’s using the same set of threads I’m using, so if I don’t complete the chart I’ll probably end up binning the threads because it’s so messy! It’s really not my cup of tea having the threads like this.
Previously I’ve always purchased threads individually & put them on to bobbins & build the kit up myself.
The last reason I’ve started this chart straight after is because I’m honestly just trying to keep busy. I have plenty of cross stitch charts/projects etc at home but since we moved in December I haven’t got round to sorting out my stash… one day I’ll get round to it!
Later this week when there’s more to it, I’ll share my progress on my new xstitch.
What are you stitching at the moment? Have you stitched anything for your little one before? Share a picture or link to your posts in the comments so I can take a look!
I’m using Thursdays throwback this week as an opportunity to showcase some of my old cross stitch projects I’ve completed over the last few years. Here are just a few of them…
bring on some stitchy motivation!!
Most of these are pieces I completed & gifted to other people (my fave thing to do with finished xstitch)
If you would like any more details about the designs used just comment below & I’ll do my best to dig out the original post!
Hi all! Happy Friday! I hope you’re all looking forward to a relaxing weekend!
This weekend I’ve got a few plans, afternoon tea tomorrow for a friends birthday & a hospital tour on Sunday morning. Tonight I’m home alone for a few hours.
Without any hesitation my plan for tonight was to binge Netflix & possibly get my xstitch on.
Firstly, to select my viewing. For a change I loaded amazon prime & spotted that Bones is available to watch!! I’ve always wanted to watch it so I’m pretty pleased with that.
So my Friday night has so far been taken up watching 4-5 episodes of Bones. I quite like the main characters & I’m enjoying reminiscing about my teenage crush on David Boreanaz. *swoon*
Ive also been able to muster some energy to pick up some cross stitching again! (Yay) it’s probably been about a year since I’ve done some solid stitching so feeling pretty smug. I took a picture to show off & realised it looks like I’ve barely done anything! 😳
What do you think I’m stitching at the moment? This is approx 5 hours in. Post in the comments what you’re guessing this is?
I can tell it’s been a while since I’ve stitched because my hands are stiff & my progress slow! (That & I already have fat preggo hands)
UPDATED: What I want to get done this weekend 💪🏻
- Progress with my one & only active cross stitch project
- Read more of my book (Times of Convert by Deborah Harkness) I’m currently on page 245. Ideally I want to reach pg350 by Sunday night
- Attend afternoon tea (Saturday)
- Attend hospital tour (Sunday)
- Get my nails done (Sunday)
- Reading & practice more of my hypnobirthing book
- Unpack at least one more box (Front room or bedroom- I’m not picky!)
- Fit some rest in there somewhere?!
That’s probably more than enough for a 2 day weekend. That & I tire so much more easily at the moment.
What do you want to achieve this weekend? Are you a stitcher, if so, what are you working on at the moment?
I hope you all have a happy & productive weekend.
Thanks for reading. Kim xx
Happy Wednesday guys!
Above is my current WIP… As I said last week it’s for a colleague who’s baby is due on May 4th. She goes on maternity leave on 17th so I’ve got to make sure it’s done before she leaves! I’ve got a 3 day weekend ahead so fingers crossed I get it finished on time!!!
I hope you all had a productive Easter weekend & got lots of stitching done 🙂
Here is my first ‘Throwback Thursday’ post of the blog. I thought it would be a good opportunity to show you a picture of something I have completed previously.
Each week I will post something that I have finished previously or even dust off something I am yet to finish to show you all.
Below is a keyring i completed for one of the New Year exchanges i took part in earlier this year. I am part of a cross stitch group called ‘Cross stitch friends in the UK’ which organises exchanges on a monthly basis. I have only taken part in a few of them but have always really enjoyed them. They pair you up with someone with a theme in mind you then stitch them something & send it to them by the end of the month. I haven’t taken part in any recently because I have had a lot on with work & the last thing I want to do is let anyone down. This is the last one I took part in.
I think if I remember rightly I took the little bird from a cross stitch crazy magazine & added the year 2015 to it. It only took me an hour & it felt so rewarding completing it! plus it also looks very cute if i do say so myself!
For those of you on Facebook I would certainly recommend having a look at this group I mentioned. It is such a lovely group to be a part of & it’s just another way that I share the work I’m doing & browse what everyone is up to as well! I know I have said this a few times but when I’ve lost my stitchy bug, looking at other peoples lovely work helps. Also…completing small projects like this help reawaken the stitchy bug 🙂
Have any of you taken part in exchanges before? what was the theme & what did you do?
Happy #Tbt guys 🙂
I’m thinking of stitching this beauty next… What do you think? I love love love these series of fairytale kits 😊
