I hope you are all well & have recovered nicely from Christmas & New Year. It’s all back to work now.
Thankfully I was in work apart from the Bank Holidays so it made going back to work on Monday a little easier. I am in this weekend as well so there is no rest for the wicked!
As of January 1st I started stitching my ‘Magical creature’s’ Stitch a-long (SAL) for 2016. You can see the chart here.
So this month I’m stitching ‘Frost the Centaurus’ for January.
“A Centaur or Hippocentauris is a mythological creature with the head, arms & torso of a human & the body & legs of a house. In S. Lewis popular ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, Centaurs are gifted at stargazing, prophecy, healing, and warfare, a fierce & valiant race always faithful to the high king Aslan the Lion”
Centaurs honestly just remind me of Harry Potter… So I’ve renamed my Centaur Bane. I’m thinking Firenze is likely to be taken!
So here is my progress so far, I’m not yet finished!
I love the colour of my fabric I’m using. It’s using hand dyed even-weave from Chromatic Alchemy. Click on the name to have a look at the website. I love the fabrics on this site & would recommend using it if you are looking for something different 🙂 sadly I cannot remember the name of the fabric I picked.
I’m really enjoying stitching this, however it is deceptively bigger than you think! I’m hoping to have this box finished by the end of the week.
I’m trying to be quite strict with my projects that I’m stitching at the moment as I’m aiming to increase the number of unfinished projects I have! Right now I’m wanting to finish my magical creatures SAL first & then I’ll move onto January’s Frosted Pumpkin Passport SAL. which is ready to download on 15th! Once I’m done with that it might be time to switch back to magical creatures, although saying that by that time I’m hoping it’ll be time to finish off an UFP I have like the baby sampler from my last post or the subversive stitch I also started & am yet to finish! (See post #42).
I haven’t set myself any goals this year as it’s a big year with my wedding being in December 🙂 I am however hoping to finish some unfinished projects & a few cards as usual. I was hoping to add an element of Cross stitch to my wedding but I’m not sure what to do yet. Everything seems like a massive task that I would struggle to finish. Any suggestions? Have you added Cross Stitch to your wedding before?
I hope you are well. Last week I mentioned that I wasn’t feeling well. Unfortunately I then had to take some time off work because I wasn’t feeling better but worse! I’m still off at the moment & have my fingers crossed that i’ll be able to go back into work tomorrow. You’d think being off work would mean lots of TV & Cross Stitch. I admit lots of TV happened but absolutely no cross stitch 😦 You know you’re ill when you can’t face stitching!
Today I have felt a lot better which means that I’ve been able to finish my gingerbread Christmas card pattern I mentioned in my post last week which you can see here.
I’m glad that I’ve been able to get some stitching done today because I was going stir crazy & very mindful of the stitching commitments I have made between November & December! Here it is:
I’m not sure if you can see it in the picture above but I added some silver metallic thread to the design, around the buttons & on the candy cane. I felt it needed it bit more sparkle & I’m happy with the outcome! I still feel like i could maybe get some sequins around it before I attach it to a card but I don’t have any, so would need get some. What do you think?
I also got some stitchy post back today which was just what I needed! I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but I few months ago I started to take part in a ‘Round Robin’ with a theme of Fairies. There were some delays with it but it’s come back with one box left to stitch which I’ll be doing. I’m really pleased with it so far!
I now just need to find one more fairy patten to use in the final box, so that means digging out my magazines again 🙂
So what have i got planned this month?
November’s stitching goals
**Christmas tree ornament exchange**
**I’d like to complete some more of my ‘Teddy Sampler’ Most recent progress you can see here**
**To start the border of my ‘Magical Creatures Calendar SAL’ ready for January- you can see all the details if you click here.**
Ideally I want to stitch some more Christmas cards or tree ornaments OR stitch more of the toy shop WIP I have in the background at the moment.
What are you all working on? As per WIP Wednesday share your stitching!! i look forward to seeing it!
I hope you are all doing well!! As I mentioned last week I was at home in Southampton last week from the Tuesday night until the Sunday. I thought I would get some more stitching done but sadly not 😦 It’s also been absolutely manic at work this week so I’ve been coming in & crashing… that & tonight I’ve got an itchy throat!! Fingers crossed I can fight off any cold/flu that going around!
Enough of my negativity & on to the Cross Stitch 🙂 I have been stitching on two projects this week. The first is the ongoing Teddy Bear Sampler I’ve been stitching since the end of September. Just search ‘WIP’ under my categories to see my older posts on this one.
Teddy Bear Sampler
As you can see I have started on the border around the bear, its all slowly taking shape. I’m fortunate enough not to be in work this weekend & although I have plans on the Friday & Saturday night my days are free for stitching!!
The second project I’ve been working on is a Christmas Card I have started for a Christmas Card exchange I am taking part in on a Cross Stitch page on Facebook- ‘Cross Stitch friends in the UK’ Click here to join this friendly cross stitch community on Facebook… I’m off to a slow start but eventually it will be a gingerbread man pattern that I have taken from the most recent Cross Stitch Crazy issue 210.
Not much to see yet. I’m sure by next week you’ll be amazed at my progress ha! As you can see I have moved back to evenweave- I just love stitching on it! It’s such a nice change from aida.
I have also joined another exchange that I need to complete by the end of December which is a Christmas decoration exchange. I haven’t picked a pattern for that one yet. Anyone got any suggestions they can share for making a Christmas decoration?
You can see the only ones I’ve made before by clicking on a previous post here. They were lovely & simple to make, but i fancy doing something a bit different this year. However, I am mindful of the sewing attached to some of the designs out there & sewing certainly isn’t my forte!
I hope you have all had a productive week 🙂 As always you are welcome to share what you are working on in the comments!
Last night I flew home to Southampton for the week so I’m back home staying with my parents again which is really nice 🙂
I’m currently sat on the sofa in my poncho (totally a portable blanket) watching ‘A Knights Tale’ & I’ve just unpacked my cross stitch to make some more progress. Cross Stitch Heaven ☺️
I made some great progress this weekend with my Teddy Sampler. Have a look:
It got to the point that I thought it would be a good idea to start the back stitch! Look how it pops! I think on Sunday when I started the back stitch was when I finally fell in love with this project ☺️
Monday night I also put together the card I made for my friends wedding. Here’s the final piece:
I had to add the hearts to make it look less bare! What do you think??
Anyway, I best get on with my stitching!
How are you all getting on this week? I do enjoy browsing the WIP posts 🙂
Whilst home I’ve brought with me the teddy sampler, a few Christmas card designs to stitch & my DMC threads to bobbinate… Yes, wishful thinking that I’ll get all that done! But there really is nothing worse than not bringing enough home 🙂
Well it’s that time of week again where we show off what we are currently working on!
Just a quick post this week as I shared the majority of my work on Sunday. Which you can see below on post #25
My main WIP this week is the Teddy Sampler by Lesley Teare. I do love this little cutie! I’m now all stocked up on threads again so I can continue my work. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
The picture above really shows my main progress (if any) this week on this project.
I hope you like it 🙂
This week I’m on lates which explains my limited progress. I am however off work this weekend AND I’m off most of next week so I’m hoping to get some more stitching done! I’m heading back home to Southampton next week for a friends wedding so fingers crossed its not too hectic!
As always feel free to share in the comments any links to your WIP.
I cannot believe it’s that time of week again where we get to share what work we have done in the last week! This last week has gone so fast! The majority of my stitching was done over the weekend as I booked it off work as I went to a gig on the Friday night. Saturday day was spent designing & practicing stitching my own design. Something I haven’t done before. I thought it would be a good idea to try & stitch my blog name with a bumble bee as i stumbled across a small bee when I was browsing my cross stitch magazines.
Below is my first attempt, it certainly won’t be my last. I tried using graph paper to draw out the ‘stitch’. I then lost my patience & just started stitching. What do you think?
My XstitchBee stitching
My Sunday was spent making progress on my ‘Teddy Birth Sampler’ by Lesley Teare. I also spent my afternoon off on Tuesday stitching 🙂 I feel like I’ve made good progress! So much so that I had to log onto Sewandso to restock some threads I was running low on! I also would like to mention how much I love that website for threads- I ordered yesterday before 3pm & they arrived today its fab! (Plus everyone loves some stitchy post!) Click on the link above to have a look at this awesome site if you haven’t come across it before- Be warned, you may come away with shiny you probably didn’t need 😛
Below is my WIP progress:
Teddy Birth Sampler- Lesley Teare
It’s starting to take shape which is definitely spurring me on! For those of you that are interested…I found this chart in Cross Stitch Crazy- Issue 202.
Part of what i enjoy the most about stitching a big project is the organisation that goes into it. I am the queen of tins!! I use different types of tins to gather the threads on bobbins I need for each project.
How do you store your threads while working on a project?
My Thread Tin
By this time next week I hope I can share more progress on this particular project as I’d like to box it off so I can get back to making some Christmas cards. 🙂 *Must not get distracted*
I love reading all your WIP project posts & enjoy seeing the progress you are all making on your beautiful projects 🙂
Again, feel free to share links to your pages below so we can see what you are working on!
I hope you are all having a good day. This week I’ll be showing you one of the many projects I’m part way through. It’s the Autumn Goddess by Joan Elliott. I’ve had my eye on this chart for well over a year & got it a couple of months back. I started it in August & have only just put it down in the last few weeks so I can start a gift for my friend. I don’t have a picture to share of that one so here’s the Autumn Goddess!
Look at those eyes!!
As anyone stitching this beauty before? I would love to see how you’ve got on!
So last week was Star Wars day! Every year our friends meet up in one of our houses & watch all the films… It’s a proper marathon! To get myself through these marathons I take the opportunity to have a FULL day stitching!
This year I wanted to start something new & also make it related to Star Wars, so off to Etsy I went & I found a cute little owl chart with a Star Wars theme… I thought it was perfect as I’m pretty obsessed with owls as well 🙂
Below is what I was able to complete on Star Wars day… Probably about 50% of it!
Sorry for the quality of the photo! My friends wanted to keep the light fairly dim which was challenging at times!
I was thinking of leaving this project until the next Star Wars day to finish & I could then stamp the date on each owl… What do you think? Part of me wants to finish it sooner rather than later… I’m not sure… I’ll maybe see where the mood takes me!
Did anyone else take part in the film marathon on May 4th? Has anyone stitched anything related to a film?
Above is my current WIP… As I said last week it’s for a colleague who’s baby is due on May 4th. She goes on maternity leave on 17th so I’ve got to make sure it’s done before she leaves! I’ve got a 3 day weekend ahead so fingers crossed I get it finished on time!!!
I hope you all had a productive Easter weekend & got lots of stitching done 🙂
I hope you are all having a good week & looking forward to a long Weekend off work due to Easter. For those of you working… I feel your pain. I’m working Saturday so my wonderful 4 day weekend will actually be 3 days broken up! Woe is me!
So last week I posted a picture for my wip post of my ‘bothy threads- Alice in wonderland.’ I have done very little work on this, so much so I won’t even bother showing you my non-existent ‘progress’ lol. So as usual the ‘butterfly effect’ has hit again.
What I mean by this, is as I previously mentioned I’m good at stitching on a regular basis but I move between projects like a butterfly moving between bright flowers. Each cross stitch design I start is a bright flower that’s caught my attention!!
So yes as I was saying.. As predicted when I start a big project I jump around quite a bit between different things. So while I was feeling a bit deflated by my Alice & wonderland I suddenly realised that my managers baby boy is due on 4th May & I MUST stitch them something for this wonderful occasion… I’m sure you know what it’s like!
I’m starting to think I’m much better at completing smaller projects! Why is that? I can only assume it’s because I can see my progress more which is more motivating!
Below is the project I’ve just started working on…
The design is from a booklet I got with a cross stitch crazy magazine. The design is by Lesley Teare. I’ve also decided that rather than stitching on my usual white/cream Aida that I would use some light blue/shiny glitter Aida. I think it’s going well!
What are you working on at the moment? Has anyone done anything for Easter this year?
